Designing with Purpose: Volunteering as a Graphic Designer
Excited to share my recent collaboration with HEAL Utah, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting Utah's environment and public health. Working with Meisei, HEAL Utah's Communications Director, we were able to produce a visual brand guideline and a comprehensive logo package for the organization. Meisei's patience and consideration throughout the project were invaluable, and his feedback helped ensure that the final result truly reflected HEAL Utah's values and mission.
As a designer, you may be passionate about using your skills to support causes that align with your values. However, you may not always have the financial resources to make a significant donation to a nonprofit organization. In these cases, it can be challenging to determine how to make a meaningful impact. Catchafire.org sponsored by Patagonia has helped me contribute a value estimated at $4,212 for HEAL Utah. Volunteering your design expertise to a nonprofit can be a fantastic way to give back to your community, make a positive difference, and build your portfolio with meaningful work.
I encourage my fellow designers to consider using their skills for good by volunteering with Catchafire.org. Catchafire connects skilled professionals with non-profit organizations in need of their expertise, allowing designers to contribute their talents to important causes while making a positive impact on the world. By volunteering with organizations like HEAL Utah, we can help promote sustainability and protect our planet for generations to come.
